ARTISTIC DIRECTOR – REGINA PHILHARMONIC CHORUS

The Regina Philharmonic Chorus is seeking its next Artistic Director. The Chorus was established in 1972 and has grown to an adult chorus of about 100 singers in recent years. The Chorus offers up to four public programs a year performing repertoire of the great “classical” composers to the present day accompanied by piano, organ or small orchestra.
THE POSITION
The Artistic Director is a part-time, paid position, with an annual contract and competitive remuneration to be negotiated.
The Artistic Director is the keeper of the Chorus’s artistic vision, responsible for planning each year’s concert season. The Artistic Director programs repertoire, recruits and auditions singers, and negotiates with production partners.
The Artistic Director directs the Chorus’s weekly rehearsals (currently Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30), and prepares and conducts the Chorus for all its public performances.
Together with the Board of Directors, the Artistic Director deals with many of the Chorus’s administrative responsibilities including budgeting, communications, and promotion.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate for this position will be someone with a deep knowledge of and passion for choral music of all periods and genres. This person will have significant choral conducting experience, and a history of planning and executing exciting concert programs and seasons that attract audiences and create memorable musical experiences.
This person will possess a degree in music and outstanding musicianship and will demonstrate strong rehearsal skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to identify and attract excellent singers and help them reach their full potential. Knowledge of, and connections with, the local music and choral scene are desirable. The individual we seek is visionary, energetic, imaginative, personable, and well organized. He or she will be capable of being the public face of the Chorus and leading the Chorus into its next phase of growth and development.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 7, 2022. Interviews will be held in person in Regina or by video during the week of October 24. Following interviews, short-listed candidates will be invited to conduct a portion of a rehearsal with the Chorus.
