COLLABORATIVE ACCOMPANIST

The Regina Philharmonic Chorus invites applications for collaborative accompanist for the 2024-25 season with duties to commence September 1, 2024.

The Regina Philharmonic Chorus performs a wide range of music specializing in choral masterworks and oratorios by the great composers. The Regina Philharmonic Chorus frequently presents concerts at Knox-Metropolitan United Church, often accompanied by members of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and organist. The chorus collaborates with guest community and youth choirs and emerging Canadian soloists.

Job Description The collaborative accompanist will:

· provide piano services for weekly rehearsals and be on-site and available for pre- and post-discussion

· assist during weekly rehearsals and occasionally lead warm-ups and sectionals

· prepare music prior to each rehearsal

· work closely with the artistic director and may be called upon to meet at mutually agreed upon times to discuss and/or practice toward rehearsal objectives

· accompany the choir for three or four public performances per season.

Compensation

· Compensation is per rehearsal from the first Tuesday after Labour Day to mid-April or early May, depending on the concert season. The Regina Philharmonic Chorus annual fundraiser concert is compensated at this rehearsal rate and will not be paid as an additional performance.

· Performance compensation will be contracted separately for all major performances (typically one in fall and one in spring) as well as one or two other service calls.

· The collaborative accompanist will be paid as a private contractor; no taxes will be withheld, and they will be responsible for reporting their own income.

Qualifications

· Post-secondary degree or certifications in music, piano performance, or related field

· Ability to play piano accompaniments from diverse genres for large and small choirs, soloists, and instrumentalists

· Ability to read and play open choral score

· Ability to play complex choral accompaniment

· Ability to sight‐read piano and vocal parts in a four‐part score

· Ability to lead sectionals and warm-ups

· Ability to work with others in a professional manner

· Organ playing experience an asset

· Vocal training or choral singing experience an asset
